REALNESS
handcraft design and production
The interaction with our surroundings changed during the pandemic. Our facial expression is hidden, the emotional human being beneath a medical mask is locked at home.
In a context where all social-related matters have been temporarily stopped, how do we express ourselves? How do we want to perceive and how do we want to be perceived? During the Autumn of 2020, we created an object that represented care, fun, and safety in the context of COVID-19.
We seek to create an element that transforms the way we perceive the world and the way we are perceived. We look for new meanings in regard to the masks and shields that have become part of our daily life. Colors and fold transparencies enable us to rethink our perception of reality, with kaleidoscope eyes we aim to play with the circumstances, transform our skin, and highlight our expressions, not covering but exposing us.
MASKS DESCRIPTION

Process | Through the folded pattern angles, vertices and edges, create an alternative vision that transforms the way we see and be seen.
Design, and experimentation on several 2D patterns applied to diverse materials, with the pursuit of creating different tridimensional shapes to be folded by hand.
